Downtown Salt Lake City is getting another luxury hotel after a New Orleans-based developer confirmed this week that it resumed work on a new 10-story building at the highly seen corner of West Temple and 400 South.
Executives with Domain Companies announced Wednesday they’d secured a deal for $102 million in private financing for the hotel project at 370 S. West Temple, with arrangements in place for IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Kimpton luxury brand to operate the new 216-key facility once it opens.
“This is a major step forward in bringing this exciting project to life,” Matt Schwartz, co-CEO of Domain Cos., said in a statement, adding that it ”will provide Salt Lake City with a word-class luxury lifestyle hotel experience right in the bustling downtown district and set a new standard for hospitality in the market.”

Focal Point Beer Company, a popular Long Island City-based craft brewery, is opening its second location and taking 5,000 square feet of retail space at 420 Carroll Street, a luxury residential building in Brooklyn’s Gowanus neighborhood, owner and developer the Domain Companies. The new location will feature a taproom, a full dine-in restaurant, and a large outdoor seating area overlooking the Gowanus Canal.

A Gowanus waterfront development is about to get three new retail tenants. Focal Point Brewery and wine shop BYOB Naturale Wine & Spirits have signed 10-year leases at Domain Companies’ 420 Carroll St. The brewery, which operates a production facility and taproom in Long Island City, will occupy a 5,000-square-foot space. This location will offer a taproom, a dine-in restaurant and a waterfront outdoor seating area. BYOB Naturale Wine & Spirit, which is led by restaurateur Alessandro Trezza, will be in an 800-square-foot space. They will be joined by a community-focused architecture and design hub, Brooklyn Builders Studio, which leased a 1,700-square-foot space. Brooklyn Builders Studio will offer children and families a hands-on learning environment that encourages them to look into architecture, innovative problem-solving, and placemaking.

Long Island City just got a new hotel. Belvilla, a European short-term rental and hospitality brand, has signed a 15-year, 50,000-square-foot lease for a 72-unit hotel at 45-06 Pearson St. in the Queens neighborhood. The hotel is called Belvilla District 6 and opened recently. Igloo's Adam Joly represented Prism and the property's ownership group, led by Long Island City-based Vorea Group, in the deal.
