THE SHOP SHARED WORKSPACE OPENS IN DOWNTOWN SALT LAKE CITY THIS WEEK
April 15, 2021
The Shop offers award-winning hospitality, community programming, and innovative design while showcasing local artwork throughout the space

SALT LAKE CITY –The Domain Companies, in partnership with Giv Development, is opening The Shop Workspace today, Thursday, April 15th. Known for pushing the boundaries for the future of work, what truly sets The Shop apart from other workspaces in Salt Lake City is its ability to merge local art, cutting-edge architecture, extraordinary hospitality, and community commitment.

Having opened to great acclaim in New Orleans in 2017, The Shop showcases a new way to live and work in Salt Lake City. Businesses are offered a turnkey, affordable solution that provides safe and easy growth.

Members of The Shop will enjoy exceptionally designed, art-filled workspaces with a diverse, vibrant community of creative professionals. Works from more than 20 Utah-based artists are featured throughout the multi-level workspace boasting city views.

The Shop features a rooftop working space, available on-site covered parking, and special packages for its members to the popular boutique fitness studio, Rebel House, located on the ground floor. Members also have access to complimentary workshops, discussions and events to help foster connection and success.

Members participate in Domain’s MyCommunity program, which supports three local nonprofits (The Green Urban Lunch Box, Wild Utah Project, and Equality Utah) and coordinates volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Continuing on the commitment to the community, the Shop is carbon neutral and designed to maximize energy efficiency and sustainability with electric car charging, solar energy, and Enterprise Green Communities certification.

“We are excited to be building a diverse community of businesses and professionals that reflect Salt Lake’s dynamic and rapidly growing economy,” explains Domain’s co-CEO Matt Schwartz.  “The Shop is offering a level of design, hospitality and convenience that is unparalleled in this market. Our innovative programming and partnerships will foster a climate where our members can build their network and also keep up with the pulse of Salt Lake.”

Located at 340 East and 400 South, The Shop joins Mya, Domain’s first mixed-income residential development in Salt Lake City, and anchors The Exchange, a $124.3 million transit-oriented development that combines apartments, shared workspace, and retailers to serve as a cornerstone of the area’s ongoing growth.

Three floors with more than 30,000 square feet of fully furnished creative coworking space make up this shared work environment, including private offices, event space, full kitchen, a roof deck overlooking the mountains, multiple meeting rooms, and comprehensive amenities. “Commons” coworking memberships are available for $275/month, as well as $35 day passes for those on the go or just needing short-term work or conference room space.

The architecture firm behind The Shop’s design is Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, a winner of the AIA Architecture Firm Award. This is their debut project in Salt Lake City.

“The Shop is coming at a perfect time for Salt Lake City as it collectively reevaluates what “going back to work” can and should mean,” says Giv’s executive director Chris Parker. “Everything at The Shop has been designed to meet the needs of our community, including a focus on air quality, local art, easy scalability, and collaborative network development.”

Making significant long-term investments in the future of Utah, Domain marked their debut in the Salt Lake market by first opening Mya and now The Shop. This summer, it will unveil Avia, luxury residences in a prime location along the TRAX line.

The Shop will be maintaining a safe, sanitized workspace, adhering to CDC best practices including social distancing, masks, going above and beyond with regular disinfecting, easy access to a low-rise building (less time spent in the elevator), occupancy monitoring, and Nanotech germ-proof wraps on highly trafficked surfaces.
