THE LOCAL MARKET + BAR ANNOUNCES THREE NEW INNOVATIVE CULINARY CONCEPTS OPENING THIS MONTH
Where to Eat in New Orleans’s Central Business District
Barbecue lovers need to discover Devil Moon’s juicy briskets, dark and crusty, with a just-right balance between chewiness and tenderness. Platters are built around brisket, offered lean or fatty; smoke-reddened pork ribs, housemade sausage, or fancy-tasting smoked turkey and come with two sides. There’s pulled pork of course, with sides beyond the usual including dirty rice and collard greens. From the same folks is Brewery Saint X next door, which delivers dishes from Louisiana-born chef Shannon Bingham like confit beef cheeks with salsa verde, roasted Gulf fish with New-Orleans style barbecue sauce along with sandwiches, salads, and snacks. Sip 15 German and British style drafts but the house-bottled cocktails and sustainable wine list impresses.

With more than 8,000 apartments in the works, the Brooklyn neighborhood is poised to blast through city officials’ prediction of 8,500 by 2035.

Rounding out the top three was Domain Companies, which filed plans for nearly 1.3 million square feet across three multifamily projects. Those included a 500-unit complex at 2-33 50th Avenue in Long Island City and two Gowanus projects: a 360-unit, two-tower development at 420 Carroll Street and a 241-unit building at 545 Sackett Street.

How Domain became a prolific outer-boro developer
Domain’s planned mixed-use projects include 420 Carroll and Majestic in rezoned Gowanus, where the firm has roughly 600 residential units in the pipeline; the 499-unit, 484,000-square-foot Jasper at Hunter’s Point in Long Island City; and the two-tower, 544-unit Estela in Mott Haven.
