Markham Gardens in Staten Island, NY, received a major highlight in the New York Times‘ article on David Schalliol’s new anthology “Affordable Housing in New York: The People, Places and Policies That Transformed a City.” Through a series of photographs, interviews with residents,  and contributions from leading scholars, Schalliol’s book surveys the changing landscape of affordable housing, as it moves away from the high-rise developments of yesterday and instead focuses on building attractive community settings.
