New Orleans, LA – The U.S. Green Building Council has granted Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification for Multifamily Midrise to The Paramount in the South Market District, making it the first luxury apartment community to achieve such status in Downtown New Orleans. LEED Silver Certification is awarded to projects that meet extensive sustainable design and construction requirements.
LEED Silver Certification requires excellence in nine key areas: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, location and linkages, awareness and education, innovation in design, and regional priority.

Innovative green design features at The Paramount make the property 20 percent more energy efficient than other comparable buildings. These features include Energy Star lighting and appliances; water-conserving fixtures and appliances; innovative, high-efficiency HVAC systems; local heat island reduction measures; LED amenity space lighting; and landscaping that reduces water consumption. The Paramount’s environmentally-conscious features complement those in the neighboring Park building, which houses Zagster bike-sharing service, Enterprise CarShare (the first public car-sharing program in New Orleans), and electric car-charging stations.
