In spring 2019, Eleven33 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn partnered with the Young Adult Institute (YAI) to present the “Sounds of Brooklyn” gallery opening. The month-long popup gallery showcased the work of YAI ARTs, which provides opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to advance their creative voices and become working artists. The reception allowed YAI’s talented group of artists to network and showcase their art in a public space. For many participants, this was the first time their work was featured in a show.
