Introducing The Exchange, Salt Lake City

We are happy to announce our latest project “The Exchange,” a $110 million mixed-use development in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah that will feature a diverse mix of housing anchored by a food hall, retail, and the next location for The Shop co-working platform. The project is a joint venture with Salt Lake City-based developer Giv Development, and was awarded following a competitive RFP process administered by the city. It is our first development both in the state of Utah and the western United States.

The Exchange incorporates many successful aspects of our past developments, including a residential community of over 400 mixed-income apartments, extensive street-front retail, and an energy-efficient, transit-oriented design capable of supporting a wide range of residents and businesses. Approximately 50% of residences will be affordable to households ranging from 40%-80% of the area median income. All these features were heavily desired by Salt Lake City’s government to address affordability concerns and nurture entrepreneurial growth.

“This exciting project will help us increase quality, affordable housing and grow local businesses,” said SLC Mayor Jackie Biskupski. “A strong and vibrant Salt Lake City absolutely depends on diverse and truly affordable housing opportunities, and we will continue to lead out and support ways to make that happen.”

“The Domain Companies believes that successful development engages entire communities,” said Matt Schwartz, principal of The Domain Companies. “We’re excited to become a part of the Salt Lake community, where a dynamic, thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem continues to support diverse economic growth. The Exchange is the first of many developments that Domain plans to pursue in Salt Lake, and we look forward to making a positive impact on the city for years to come.”
