Louisiana Team Celebrates the Holidays by Giving Back

December was a busy month for Domain’s Louisiana-based employees and residents! The team supported five worthy organizations this holiday season – here is a look at this year’s initiatives:

—————

1. Toy Drive | CASA New Orleans

At The Beacon and The Paramount in the South Market District, Downtown New Orleans, toy collection bins were set-up in the lobbies. Residents donated dozens of toys to help CASA New Orleans fulfill their holiday mission that every child in Orleans Parish’s foster care programs has a gift to open on Christmas day.

2. Food Drive | Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

Due to this year’s catastrophic flooding in Southeastern Louisiana, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank not only lost its entire inventory, but saw a huge surge in need – especially during the holidays. In addition to ongoing support initiatives, Domain held a holiday food drive at each of its Louisiana properties. The result was 875 lbs of donated food to help local families in need!

3. Family Dinner | Ronald McDonald House Charities

The Ronald McDonald House offers housing, meals and comfort to families seeking medical treatment for their children at area hospitals. Several Domain team members stopped by to make a home-cooked meal for the families. This year’s menu included meatloaf, mashed potatoes, salad, macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables, and dessert (of course!).

4. Holiday Luncheon | Odyssey House Louisiana

Odyssey House Louisiana is a non-profit healthcare provider focused on empowering people to conquer addiction. Domain employees came to Odyssey House with lunch and dessert for residents, serving over 100 people. Special thanks to Willa Jean for donating cookies!

5. Treats and Trivia | Covenant House

As one of the largest privately-funded childcare agencies in the country, Covenant House provides vital services to homeless and runaway youth. This year, Domain employees and residents treated Covenant House New Orleans’ young people to desserts, trivia and prizes.

In addition to these holiday initiatives, checks were hand-delivered to all five organizations from the MyCommunity program. MyCommunity allows residents to choose a non-profit when they sign or renew a lease, after which Domain makes a $25 donation on their behalf.

Thank you so much to our MyCommunity partners, amazing residents, and dedicated employees. Here is to even more volunteerism, generosity and kindness in 2017!
